The Graduate

The big news in this chapter for me was that I graduated.
Do I look relieved? Man, was I ever!
Meeting Scott Hamilton

The ridiculous, hilarious, amazing Scott Hamilton and I. Yes, he is wearing a wig and is dressed as a rockstar at an 80’s-themed party that Kimberly William Paisley and Brad Paisley put on for Alzheimer’s. Scott’s energy is infectious; he is one of the greatest humans on the planet.
Funny story about how we met. I was at Brad Paisley’s Christmas party, and Scott came running up to me. With that huge smile, he extended his hand and said my name, “Scott Scovill”. I shook his hand, excited to meet him, and replied, “Scott Hamilton”.
“Nope,” Scott replied and released my hand. “Try again”.
I paused, confused. What was I wrong about? I put out my hand, and as Scott shook it, I said, “I’m Scott Scovill.”
“Correct,” he admitted, I’m glad I had that part right.
Sheepishly, I continued, “…and your Scott Hamilton?”
“Close,” Scott replied. “I’m Scott Scovell Hamilton, and I have been wanting to meet you for years!”
“No way” was all I could muster to say, “Prove it! let’s see some ID.”
After looking over his license, I saw that he is indeed Scott Scovell Hamilton. Different spelling, but the same pronunciation. We had a good laugh and have been friends ever since.

Eight years after Olympic gold, and he is spectacular!
Scott Hamilton

This is the greatest human – the greatest. He is so incredibly giving.
Speaking of giving, here is a link to his charity. The research they are enabling to fight cancer is phenomenal. I am so proud to help him put on his big annual skating fundraiser at Bridgestone Arena. Fighting cancer is something I am strongly invested in. More on that in later chapters.
